The team at SCA Care believe that helping people live the life they want to lead is extremely important.   When you join our team, you’ll make a real and positive impact to the lives of the people we support at our Southampton Living Well day opportunities at our Holy Family Hub in Millbrook .  Working at SCA Care means that you’ll make sure that the customer’s emotional and social needs are met, and that the care and support given is tailored to their unique and individual needs.  Our service provides a varied timetable of activities for older people both in-house and out and about in the community.

Your new role

We’re looking for a resourceful, ideas person, who is fun and outgoing.  Is this you? Preferably you will have an NVQ 3 in a care related field or willing to work towards this qualification with experience of working with older people, and people with dementia. You’ll always be supported and looked after by your SCA Care colleagues and wider Social Care in Action family, and full training will be provided.

A Community Facilitator’s role can be wide and varied – no two days are the same – but here’s an idea of what you could be doing:

  • Promoting and encouraging independence, whilst assisting the people we support with a range of fun activities
  • Identifying new opportunities for integration, participation and inclusion, available to the people we support, both within our services and the community
  • Providing quality personal care, which could include bathing etc. depending on individual needs, while maintaining respect and sensitivity
  • Liaising with other professionals, undertaking assessments and completing administrative tasks, making sure it’s a great community hub to be part of
  • Participating in everything  from trips to the seaside, local parks and garden centres to enjoying a boogie at an afternoon tea dance, encouraging the people we support to join in
  • Engaging in conversation and sometimes having a belly laugh together over something silly!

If you’re successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
