Come and be part of something amazing!

The team at SCA Care believe that helping people live the life they want to lead is extremely important.  We are currently seeking to recruit motivated people to work with a bright non-verbal young woman who has a severe learning disability and physical disability.

One of our clients we’re recruiting for

I’m 32 years of age and I live in Southampton with my family and my best friend Yorkshire Terrier Scamp.  My ideal support worker would be someone young and full of fun. He/she needs to be a driver, who will be happy to drive me places in my automatic mobility car.  I love going out and about with my support workers, and some of my favourite places are Marwell Zoo and Paultons Park where I have annual passes for us to visit. They are great places to enjoy my favourite hobby - people watching! When I’m home, I enjoy watching the TV, listening to music and having a sing-a-long.

Your new job

The role will require you to work throughout the week from Monday to Sunday and will involve mornings, afternoons and evenings, depending on our client's wishes, so flexibility is key.

This role can be wide and varied – no two days are the same – but here’s an idea of what you could be doing:

  • Promoting and encouraging independence, whilst assisting our client with her daily routines
  • Identifying new opportunities for integration, participation and inclusion in the community and maybe even joining our client on the trampolines
  • Providing quality personal care, including bathing while maintaining respect and sensitivity
  • With training, administering mediation and via a PEG
  • Engaging in conversation and sometimes having a belly laugh together over something silly!

The main aim of this role is to provide support that is professional, positive and upholds the values of SCA Care.  The support provided must be tailored to her unique and individual needs. If you are the type of person to promote respect, dignity and compassion at all times, then we’d love you to apply.  Full training will be provided and you’ll always be supported and looked after by your SCA Care colleagues and wider Social Care in Action family.
