Come and be part of something amazing.

Southampton Living Well’s new and innovative way of working is transforming the traditional adult day centre model.  We’re working hard to bring together local community groups to offer a wider range of day opportunities throughout Southampton for people to enjoy.  Sounds great, doesn’t it!

When you join our team, you’ll make a real and positive impact to the lives of the people we support at our day opportunities, helping them to reconnect with their communities, form new friendships and love later life.  We’ve a varied timetable of activities both in-house and out and about and we understand that everyone is different with unique qualities and abilities.  We work closely with the individuals to design packages to enable them to take control over the support they receive.

Your new role

We’re looking for a resourceful, ideas person, who is fun and outgoing.  Is this you? Preferably you will have an NVQ Level 2 in a care related field or willing to work towards this qualification and have experience of working with older people, and people with dementia.   You’ll always be supported and looked after by your Southampton Living Well colleagues and wider Social Care in Action family, and full training will be provided.

A Community Enabler’s role can be wide and varied – no two days are the same – but here’s an idea of what you could be doing:

  • Promoting and encouraging independence, whilst assisting the people we support with a range of fun activities
  • Identifying new opportunities for integration, participation and inclusion, available to the people we support, both within our services and the community
  • Providing quality personal care, which could include bathing etc. depending on individual needs, while maintaining respect and sensitivity
  • Liaising with other professionals, assisting with assessments and completing administrative tasks, making sure it’s a great community hub to be part of
  • Participating in everything  from trips to the seaside, local parks and garden centres to enjoying a boogie at an afternoon tea dance, encouraging the people we support to join in
  • Engaging in conversation and sometimes having a belly laugh together over something silly!

  • Free training including comprehensive training package including QCF qualification
  • 6 weeks paid holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Excellent career pathway
  • Your birthday off
  • Paid travel time (if applicable)
  • Paid Mileage (if applicable)
  • Pension scheme
  • Refer a friend bonus scheme

If you’re successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
