I started caring at 18 years old, when I first started I really wasn't sure if this job was for me but 13 years later I'm still doing it, be a carer is very rewarding and also a comfort to know that what i do makes someone elses day that little bit brighter. I always start my day by walking into their homes with a smile and positive attitude, I'm very lucky to have the round that I have, most days I have the same customers which this makes them feel at ease knowing that they have a familiar face every day. My usual morning mostly starts with personal care this can vary from showering, body wash, continence care, dressing into clean clothes etc which sets them up to be comfortable for that day, I always like to give a few choices for breakfast with a tea or coffee, leaving them happy which makes me happy. Some days are easier than others, you may come up against a challenge which the office is always on hand to help and resolving these challenges are just as rewarding

- Promoting and encouraging independence, whilst assisting the people we support with their daily routines
- Identifying new opportunities for integration, participation and inclusion, available to the people we support, both within our services and the community
- Providing quality personal care, which could include bathing, toileting etc. depending on individual needs, while maintaining respect and sensitivity
- Participating in household tasks, which include cleaning, cooking, ironing, washing etc. while encouraging the people we support to join in
- Engaging in conversation and sometimes having a belly laugh together over something silly!
